TY:
Transition Year serves as a bridge between the Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate and makes the beginning of the three-year Senior Cycle programme. It provides students with unique experiences not typically available during other school years. During this time, students have the chance to explore their interest and develop new personal strengths, gaining maturity while also sampling careers and third level institutions which may interest them. A key part of TY includes trips, workshops and guest speakers. Highlights from the 2024/25 programme include, but are not limited to:
- Overnight school trips.
- VR workshops in Zero Latency and DCU.
- Driver’s Ed workshop (mock theory test + driving cars + e-scooters).
- Trips to universities and colleges such as Trinity College, DCU and DIT.
- Drug awareness with Conor Harris.
- Gambling awareness with Tony O’Reilly.
- Barber and hairdressing workshops.
- Weekly work experience.
- Forensic detective workshop.
- Photography workshops.
- Song writing workshops.
- Charity drives for the ISPCC, local nursing homes and St. Francis Hospice.
